We loaded Ruby up and went to visit Cameron and Abbra in Houston. Nathan and I had our first date at a U2 concert almost 8 years ago. Cameron, Nathan and I went to the On the Horizon tour. Ruby was the youngest person waiting in line at the concert. She was a trooper. For the weekend, we went to Galveston and stayed in a condo. Ruby loved the water !!

our six year reunion. we both completely forgot with all the business in our lives. thanks to my sister laura and my dad for reminding us. after work we were both in walgreeens picking out cards for one another when nathan spotted me and tried to surprise me. i finally saw him and we decided to read eachother our cards and then put them back and went home. we spent the rest of the evening with my mom. we had a roast for dinner and went to babys r us to get ruby some rice cereal. she loved it.

next... came abbra.. she stayed for three days and then played with us on the weekend. what a treat it was to have her.

Ruby loves to stand all the time. This was one of the first pictures when she would hold herself up. she is a pro now! plus i wanted this outfit to fit so bad. not yet

Where to begin.. it has been too long since the last post that i don't remember everything that has happened. I'll start with today since it was a big day... she started day care. i left her this am just fine and really wasn't too upset. finding out that she didn't want to sleep today and that she only ate like 5 oz total today, i am a little more concerned this evening. i should know better though.. she is the worst on mondays. but.. i failed to really give them a good schedule, thinking that they had there own thing going on and i looked at her little list and i think they tried to feed her every hour since she didn't take a bottle the first time. unfortunately, that never works for her. anyway, it is all a learning experience. i know she will get the hang of it and i won't feel so bad in the evenings when she doesn't do as well. she will survive.

this past weekend, i went to my 10 yr high school reunion and had a lot of fun. it was so fun to catch up with old friends and see some of my friends as parents. so crazy.

We have been busy!!! The past couple of weekends we have kept ruby busy. Nana and paz came to visit the second weekend in july.. we took ruby to her first travs game.. we went to the lake the next weeknd .. and then spent this weekend in paragould with nathan's sister sarah and her family. Ruby is such a great traveler that it makes it easy to get out and go visit people for a night or so. i have one more day on my hard rotation and then will have a little break for the next 2 months. i am soooo excited to get to spend more time with nathan and ruby especially since she seems to be growing so fast. she is now quite the talker in the mornigs. she loves to tell us all about her day and how much she loves us :> it is soo cute to hear her little voice. nathan sees her trying to blow bubbles all the time. i am still breast feeding and feel like a champ that i have made it this far. i should be able to keep it up now. nathan starts back work in 2 weeks... that is when bobo is coming and then nana and then hopefully abbra. ok.. so here are some recent pics..

it has been a few weeks since an update and i had a minute this evening and thought you all might like to hear what has been going on. i started back to work two weeks ago and things have been going well. the first week was the worst and it has slowly gotten easier each week. i am still trying to pump at work and so far so good. it just takes time and effort to stop what i am doing and take a break. nathan has been doing great with ruby and i think he is having lots of fun. she smiles at him all the time and seems to really know him. i have to ask him how she like to sleep and why she is crying and when i should feed her... very humbling :> but daddy knows best since he is with her most of the time. i am just relieved i don't have to worry about her when i am at work !! new things.. she is definitely smiling when we talk to her.. she rolled over this morning while in our big bed... she now hangs out in her bumbo a little each day to help her sit up......she has new little high pitched noises that are sooooo cute.....she was sleeping through the night the past three nights until last night....we'll see how tonight goes :>.....she has lots of fat rolls.... and she has a cute pair of tennis shoes that she wears a lot!

ruby had her first overnight stay away from home!! we went to fayetteville for the weekend to visit. she really did wonderful. it has been the adjusting back to home that has been more of an issue than anything. ruby met her uncle dicky, great grandmother, jeff, tina, lexi, and my friend shannon this weekend. it was really neat. nathan and i enjoyed our free babysitters and slept in every morning while ruby hung out with her nana and paz. we even got to go on a date saturday night. i start back school on monday and have lots of mixed emotions. i spend moments crying when i am holding her because i know i am going to miss her but then i am ok. normal i guess :> Ruby had her 2 mo checkup today and she is doing great. she is 10 # 3 oz and in the 50 % for height. i can't beleive that she started out in the 8% when she was born!! she got her shots today and did well until about 3 hours ago. i got my chance to take care of my little crying girl. after some tylenol she is much better and was back to smiling and talking to her momma :>

The Gates were in town this week and Nathan and I had lunch with Juston and Rebekah. It was great to catch up and let them see Ruby. This was Juston's first time to see her.

Just to let all of you know that Canon is not longer with us. We had to put him down on Sunday because he had been having seizures and had one that probably lasted over a couple of hours and wasn't able to stand and his left side wasn't functioning (per nathan). You can talk to Nathan about all of the details.

As for other news, Ruby is now 7 weeks old and I have one more week home with her.. I can't believe it. It is going to be extrememly hard to go back to work and not see my little girl anytime i want. I am ready for a change in activities during the day so I am trying to have a positive attitude. Hopefully pumping will go well and the first month will slide on by. That is my plan anyway :>

We went to church for the first time since she has been born. It was a great experience. We loved the newborn room. They had breakfast, slider chairs and a nice dark room. THere were lots of couples with us worshiping and it was sweet to hear all the little baby noises throughout the service. We even got a special gift bag! I was very impressed. Ruby listened to the music and then was knocked out for the sermon.

This is another new dress. Her daddy picked it out for church. She was sooo cute. Too bad no one was there to see her. We even went to the Edge service afterwards to show her off and nobody was there.. Oh well!

Nathan and Nick's birthday dinner at whole hog. I can't think of many birthdays without the Rupp family. Little Nicholas, Nick, Krysta, Me, Ruby, and Nathan.. Happy 31. I got Nathan new cowboy boots. They are dark blue with a square toe. Very nice!!!

All Nathan wanted was RIBS. I didn't even get one.

We have had lots of visitors over the past weekends and have been getting out more. We are now going to community group once a week and she does great. My mom, sister and Isaac came to visit this past tuesday and we spent the whole day out shopping and eating pizza. I tried out her peanut shell carrier and it was great. she slept the whole time right next to me. it was kind of a treat for me because i always put her in the crib to sleep. Last night she slept 7 hours straight. that meant i slept 6 hours in a row. it was the best ever. i won't hold my breath for that to be a nightly thing but at least she is moving towards that. As for news for nathan and me... i got my haircut and colored. i only bring it up because i finally feel a little more put together. no more poneytail.. nathan has huge news... he got a raise and an official title at access- recreational therapist. he is now in the high school class room and in charge of planning the leisure activities. he hopes to team up with different businesses in little rock and take high school kids there to work and get plugged into a working environment. The raise is amazing too cause not only does it pretty much cover ruby's daycare it makes nathan feel great!! Ruby is growing and officially has lots of baby fat rolls. she is finally growing out of the preemie clothes and filling out the new born outfits. i think we just bought our last new born diapers and will be graduating to the 1's. She is already growing tooooooo fast!

Ruby will be a month old tomorrow. I can't believe it. We have been a little more active lately, tryint to get out and do things like normal people. Nathan and i went on a 2 mile walk yesterday and she did good. i don't think she really took a nap but just layed there until her passifier came out and then would let out a little cry until we noticed. other than being a little hot, it was fun. we also went to community group for the first time and it went well. i think she is going to be a good little outing girl. My plan for the next week is to let her sleep as long as she can at night and not wake her up for a feeding. Who knows how it will go. i haven't quite decided when the magic day will be to try that. I am also hoping to move her to her room in the next few weeks. i am kind of don't want to though cause i like having her so close at night. but i know she will love her room.. it just such a big bed for such a little girl :>

Dad's new trick.. he was so proud. i wasn't as enthusiastic about the idea. but she seems to like it.

She falls asleep everywhere.. even after a second on the changing table. i turned around to get a burp cloth and there she was.. out like a light.

my favorite thing about these pictures is that i couldn't quite get rid of her double chin in any shot. i say it was the way she was sitting.. but i think she just likes to sport it.. she's growing !!!

Welcome baby RUBY!! born march 31st, 2009 at 8:42 am weighing a grand total of 5 lb and 15 oz. She is almost one month old and is growing like a weed. She weighed 6 lb 11 oz at her 2 wk doctors visit. She is a great eater and loves to sleep.. .so far!!!

I spend most of my day feeding her and then trying to keep the house in order and keep up with the laundary.. i had no idea something so small could mess up so much stuff in a day. Lately, she loves to get her bath and try on a new outfit and within the next 10 minutes, she has puked all over it. For about a moment, i think about leaving her in the mess cause i wanted her to wear the outfit sooo bad, but then i just feel.. She usually just stays in a diaper for the rest of the day :>

I had my first outing with some girls and drinks last night :> yay for momma's night out. it was great to get dressed up ( except for nothing that i wanted to wear would fit) and relax with a martini. Just wish i could have stayed out longer!

Wow, what a day! Whit and I found out what we are going to have....it was so amazing to see the little one on the ultrasound. the first glimps of it was of its face, you could see its eyes, nose, and the mouth. i swear i think i could see the eye lids. then we looked to make sure all the parts were there and then while we were looking it put its thumb in its mouth...AMAZING!!! that is when we both started to melt. it is just something that i never would have imagined. it was by far one of the coolest things that i have ever seen PERIOD. i can not wait to be able to hang out with the little munchkin.

I have posted these already for a night and then freaked out and took them off the next morning. I just wanted to keep the news on the down low. Especially since we had so many changes going on over the last few weeks. It was a big couple of weeks. WOW!! So, I am starting to tell people now that Nathan and I will be parents if everything keeps going the way it should. I have my first appointment next tuesday and I am starting to get really excited. Due date: April 9 or 10th. Keep us in your prayers and enjoy the pictures. They make me smile every time I look at them. I just wish I felt the way I did in those pictures.. I have not been lucky with the sickness stuff. I can't complain because usually that means I have a healthy baby!!!!

So as of September 2nd, I will officially be a pathology resident at UAMS. Something i am pretty sure i would never hear myself say. i had never thought about it and one thursday night about 2 weeks ago, i get a phone call from a classmate telling me that there was an opening in pathology. i gave it a week and found it interesting. the lifestyle is so rewarding and would allow me to have the family life that i had wanted. but i still worry about getting joy from my job. i decided to take the position in hopes of being a pathologist one day and finding something that is really exciting to me. it will be hard at first because there is very little patient contact but sometimes i think God knows me better than i do and is asking me to give that up for a bit and take a chance. i am going to trust. it has been extremely difficult and i fought it all the way to signing the contract... but it feels good. i have a year to see if this will work for us. hopefully it will.

Well, we took Nathan to the hospital this weekend thanks to wonderful Dr. Sara Tariq and he had a tonsilar abscess. Thankfully, they didn't have to do anything to it besides give him some good antibiotics IV and send him home. He was better that night is 100% better now. I like having him back to life. Jay, Nathan's dad, has been staying with us for the week and it has been really good seeing him and being able to talk with him in the evenings. We love company, so come stay with us.

Our Anniversary is this sunday. 5 years!!!!

Trying something new

This year seems all about doing something different than expected. Since deciding to take the year off from starting a residency, life is very different. I am trying to get used to relaxing and not getting in a hurry to do anything. Nathan and I have been able to spend every evening together and we often have our weekends all to ourselves. I am so thankful for that. However, all this free time has been a little difficult for me. I am such the busy body that too much down time stresses me out. It has also been hard watching all my friends move on with their careers. I am so excited to be there one day; I just have to wait a little longer and take advantage of my huge blessing.... A WHOLE YEAR OFF!!! Nathan is looking for a job in recreational therapy and may have found one that he will like and I am working as a research assistant. Not something i would have ever picked for myself, but it is truly a wonderful job.

so with all this free time, what do I do you ask????? well, for one thing i am trying out this new blog site stuff. I have been painting a lot and trying to organize my pictures from the past 4 years which has turned out to be quite the task. Nathan and I have tried to keep our canoe in the water as much as possible and i hope we get to take our dogs in the canoe sometime this summer.
